Welcome to our website. We hope you get the chance to look over
our website and learn a little about our flock and what we have done. Our goal is to produce quality Hampshire sheep that are both productive and competitive in state and national shows. We raise both Hampshire Breeding Sheep and Club Lambs. Schrock Hampshires started in 1974 when Mark bought his first ewe for his 4-H project. Through the 1980's and early 1990's Mark concentrated on breeding for club lambs. He sold his ewe flock in 1993, however kept back three wether type ewes as his 3 boys would soon be old enough to show in 4-H. In 1997, we started our Breeding Sheep flock with the purchase of 3 bred ewes from Dale Steffens. Our flock size has increased since then and we try to keep around 15 Purebred Fitted ewes and around 35 Wether type ewes. One thing that we try to do is maintain a solid ewe base. We believe that a consistent ewe base will lead to predictable results. In fact, a number of our current wether dams trace back to Mark's first ewe that he bought back in 1974. Our Champion Ewe at the 2007 Illinois State Fair Jr. Show
goes back the the first ewe that we bought from Dale Steffens in 1997. From the beginning, we have strived to raise quality, productive show sheep while still keeping numbers at a low managable amount. Thus far, we have been fortunate enough to have success in both the show and sale ring. We have learned a lot, worked very hard to get where we are and look forward to what the future holds. Also, we would like to thank anyone that has helped us, given us advice, or bought sheep from us. It is nice to be involved in an industry with so many great people. As always, if you have any questions, dont hesitate to call or e-mail us. Visits and inquiries are always welcome. |
